Uncovering the Truth: The Limitations of Brutal Honesty

Sharon "Whitethunder" Baldock

The truth is out there. What is true for us may not be true for someone else. Truth should not be blindly agreed with experts, education, diplomas or degrees. There are a few diversions and misrepresentations going on in society today and I quite frankly do not side with any of them. Its not that events of the world do not matter, I simply do not have the energy or will to live in fear.

Truth should not be told with a sense of righteous indignation or entitlement. It is NOT giving someone "a piece of your mind" because that does not come from the heart...it comes from ego. Yes, we have a right to express our feelings when boundaries have been violated. We have a right to share our opinion but that opinion does not make it the truth.

Truth is not owned by anyone, nor does it give us the right to overlord someone else. It does not give us the right to insist that people take our side or our beliefs of what we feel is true. As practitioners we help people by asking the right questions and guiding people to discover their own truth. Telling someone what they should do or what the need to do does not help others to discern their path. There are deeper layers as to why people are not where they are meant to be or doing what they need to do.

"There are three truths...yours...mine...and the truth"

~ Sharon Whitethunder

Honesty has more to do with our Authenticity and our Integrity. It is an inside meter for us to reflect and discern our own intentions. It is not a sword of justice, it is not a weapon to make someone feel less...it is not a pedestal for us to preach to others.

My approach with clients is co-creative problem solving and critical thinking. I share tools and guide people to help them along their path. When I was teaching Reiki, I fully expected students receiving initiations and learning the craft to have abilities that would surpass my own. I was the center wheel to help them become accomplished with their skills. I gave them the teachings but I also told them to only take what resonates with them in the beginning and let the other teachings become slowly immersed in their daily life.

This was THEIR truth, their knowledge, their wisdom and their realization of who they are at that moment in time. It formed their own intuition, and taught them how to discern and apply what they have learned. I was there to coach them, guide them and tell them how amazing they are. It is important to inspire others and allow them to discover on their own because we will not be around forever.

The more questions we ask someone the more they begin the ask the questions that will open their world of awareness and discern to understand what is best for them. Sharing your knowledge allows in the appropriate way helps them to develop confidence and discover their own strengths.

Intuition is key to living our truth with honesty
